I cannot get my 975 to connect to my iPhone 4. I turn on bluetooth on the phone and and headset. the very first time i did this there was a connection but phone said pairing was unsuccessful. With every attempt since then the phone does not even detect the 975. It just keep searching and searching. The 975 worked superbly with my 1st generation iPhone. What can i do ?
You need to put the headset into pairing mode, the LED on the headset must be flashing red/white, red/white when it is in pairing mode, then the phone will be able to find the headset. Please see our pairing guide for details.
as I said in my previous reply the instructions included in the box with your product are un-instructive.
Additionally, that link you provided did NOT help.
Please note: iPhone 4 is now also available through Verizon. Maybe want to put that up there on that site.
The effort it took you to put the link in, you coulda just said "hold the big button down for 5-10 seconds...
the link was equally unhelpful.
I had the same problem. My plantronics 240 did not connect to iphone 4 for verizon. The first reply stated to put the headset into "pairing mode" but didn't say how. In order to put the plantronics 240 headset into pairing mode with the iphone 4:
1) Press and hold the big button (where the LED is located, aka the pick up hang up button) until the LED alternates between blue and red
2) in your iphone 4, tap the settings, tap general tap bluetooth, tap ON, tap pairing. It should now pair with your iphone 4. The LED should stop blinking now.
3) from this point on, I believe that as long as your iphone 4's blue tooth is turned on (switch is located in settings>general>bluetooth>ON) you won't have to pair it every time you want to use it; it should auto detect the 240 device.
Dear plantronics: great product, but maybe hook up the instruction booklet a little bit. Your controls are somewhat intuitive, but not THAT intuitive. Spend a dime and put more instructions with your devices, please.
I followed the pairing instructions for the ATT version and was able to make the initial connection, however after disconnecting and trying to reconnect later on, my phone won't recognize the headset. The only way to make it work is to completely cancel the device off the phone. That doesn't make sense. Please advise.
Try deleting the headset out of the phone and if you can do a REBOOT on the phone by pressing and holding both the sleep/wake button (upper right corner) AND the home button until the white Apple logo appears. Note that the standard "slide to power off" message appears, but ignore it. The screen eventually turns black and then the white logo appears. At this point, let go of the buttons. Once the phone reboots, try pairing the headset back up to your phone.
god... thank you thank you thank you! I had lost my headset and then found it and then was devastated that appeared not able to pair. You saved me. My problem? I wasn't holding the button down long enough to get the red/white flash. This is my third and last headset -- when I thought I'd lost it, I refused to buy another. I was so happy to have found it... the thought of not being able to use it seemed a travesty. You rock.
