Just received my Backbeat the other day and it was working flawlessly.  Nice device.

I've used it about 2 hours total in two days....just for working out.  First time perfect.  After about 1/2 hour of the second time I used it, I noticed the controls would take literally about 60 seconds to register on my Palm Pre.  If I hit "pause", it would not pause until about 60 seconds later.

The headset died shortly after that and this was after a full 3 hour charge.  Now there is a squeal from the right speaker like the open-mic feature is off.  I put it in the charger and now the LED indicator flashes red, then is constant blue.  Device will not turn on and there is no indicator light when I hold the power button for a few seconds.

Any advice?

Kudos!

Don't have a solution yet, but I've had exactly the same problem. Seems to be a flaw in the circuitry. I will be contacting the manufacturer on monday.

Good luck!

I wonder if the problem has to do with sweating.  Plantronics suggested I do this - while holding the power button and the AC adapter plugged in, insert the charger into the headphones.  The rep said that should cause the headphones to turn on.  Yeah, well....it didn't.  I just sent them back to Newegg for replacement.

I do find it funny, though; a Plantronics rep promptly e-mailed me a possbile solution.  When I called in the next day to Plantronics to request further assistance, the phone rep said they do not support this device and I would have to contact Altec.

Kudos!

kgilinsky,

Sounds like your headset may be defective.  It looks as though you did send them back to the Distributor where they were purchased.  I apologize for the miscommunication you received regarding Altec Lansing.  Plantronics does support those products now, so if you need further support in the future, you can always contact the Technical Support Group, I have provided the link for you below:

jdj57,

Unfortunately this is an issue with your iPhone.  The iPhone doesn't support the AVRCP profile which allows you to switch tracks using a Bluetooth headset.
